Test Engineer

Job Summary

The role of Test Engineers is to thoroughly check materials, procedures and mechanical or electrical systems to ensure that customers get high-quality, functional products. They run tests on various components and features in order to identify and fix technical issues.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and review test criteria, procedures, sequence, etc., with Product Validation Manager. Conduct or provide instruction in the conducting of tests.
  • Coach and mentor the test technician on relevant engine testing techniques and engine criteria especially considering application specific experience or requirements.
  • Check test set ups and assure results are in conformance with OEM criteria.
  • Plan, schedule, assign, and conduct tests in accordance with pre-established test procedures or procedures devised to help solve an open issue.
  • Collect data from the field on Deere, Yanmar, Zenith, & Rehlko engines as well as proprietary designed components.
  • Review, analyze, interpret and approve test data and provide this information and suggest interventions to Design engineering or other departments as required.
  • Create detailed Test Reports and maintain Test schedule and Report filing systems.
  • Evaluate conceptual ideas, new designs and current state of the art equipment and provide feedback in reports to engineering management.
  • Maintain and replace equipment within the department as required.
  • Evaluate, propose and select instrumentation used by the engineering test department for product and component evaluation.
  • Monitor, maintain, and utilize Application Review Depot, to support definition and testing of new OEM machine models.
  • Coordinate Application Review testing as needed to support new application development programs
  • Travel as needed offsite and be able to represent the Company at all times.
  • Abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Help maintain a clean and presentable work area at all times.

  • Must have Design/testing skills proven by verifiable and specific work experience

Education and Experience Required

  • 2-4 years of experience in a mechanical engineering environment will be considered
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology a plus
  • Candidates should be proficient in data acquisition and test methods and have general CAD experience

Lead Assembly Technician

Job Summary

The Lead AssemblyTechnician is responsible for mentoring and assisting in the production of all engine packages produced by the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Cross-train throughout the shop; understand various builds and product lines.
  • Demonstrate and learn leadership skills; establish strong working relationships with all members of the production team.
  • Enter, modify, and delete job entries within the ERP system including proper allocation of labor, ensuring packages are shipped promptly, and substituting engines as necessary.
  • Strategize builds; devise the most productive, efficient, and profitable methods of creating the finished package.
  • Assist Production Manager with Scheduling, running parts changes, and administrative tasks including Scheduling jobs, releasing jobs, adding parts to jobs, closing jobs, and correcting jobs that have entry errors.
  • Assist in Quality Inspection of not only finished goods but also in process work.
  • Maintain LEAN practices throughout the plant and encourage improvements throughout Superior Diesel.
  • Recognize Safety or Ergonomic hazards and assist with the implementation of new processes and procedures.
  • Read and interpret assembly blueprints or specifications in manuals and plan assembly or building operations according to established guidelines and quality standards.
  • Manage inventory following established guidelines and procedures including labeling and locating parts, picking parts from appropriate locations in specified quantities, delivering parts to work areas, and recording and communicating inventory levels.
  • Inspect, operate, and test completed products to verify functioning, machine capabilities, or conformance to customer specifications.
  • Position or align components for assembly; set and verify parts clearances.
  • Fasten or install piping, fixtures, or wiring and electrical components to form assemblies.
  • Rework, repair, or replace damaged parts or assemblies.
  • Properly use wrenches, power drills, mallets, hammers, chisels, and gauges.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 0-50 lbs. frequently;50-75 lbs. occasionally; and 75+ lbs. rarely
  • Must be able to routinely stand, sit, stoop, twist, and bend through  a nine-hour shift
  • Must have excellent manual dexterity and a level of ambidexterity
  • Visual acuity (corrected) required for inspecting work and reading written material, job orders, computer screens

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to work well with others cooperatively and courteously
  • Must be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed
  •  Must be able to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
  • Must be able to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Must have knowledge of English, including proper use of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and style
  • Must be able to work independently and carry out assignments to completion with minimum instruction and adhere to established routines and practices
  • Must have an excellent work ethic and superior attendance
  • Must have basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Excel

·         Education and Experience Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Must have at minimum five years of mechanical or assembly background
