John Deere has unveiled its latest advancements in industrial engine technology with the introduction of the JD4 and JD9 engines, expanding its Next Generation engine lineup to meet diverse power and efficiency needs across various applications.
JD4 Engine: Compact Powerhouse
The JD4 engine is designed to deliver robust performance in a compact package, making it ideal for smaller machines such as water pumps, telehandlers, and woodchippers. With a displacement of 3.9 liters, the JD4 provides up to 129 kW (173 hp) of power, filling a void beneath the current 4.5-liter model. Notably, the JD4 features a 20% to 25% reduction in package size and a weight reduction of over 50 kg (110 lbs) compared to its predecessor, enhancing both efficiency and integration flexibility.
Built from a "clean sheet of paper," the JD4 incorporates advanced technologies to maximize power while maintaining a compact footprint. Its electronic control system supports telematics integration for remote monitoring and diagnostics through John Deere Connected Support™, offering enhanced reliability and reduced maintenance costs. Additionally, the JD4 is designed to accommodate alternative fuels, aligning with global efforts toward a low-carbon future.
JD9 Engine: Versatile Performance
The JD9 engine, also known as the 6090HI550, is a 9.0-liter, 6-cylinder inline engine offering power ratings from 205 to 280 kW (275 to 375 hp). This engine is engineered for durability and reliability, featuring a turbocharged and air-to-air aftercooled design. It complies with EPA Final Tier 4 and EU Stage V emissions certifications, ensuring it meets stringent environmental standards.
The JD9's robust construction and advanced engineering make it suitable for a wide range of industrial applications, providing the power and efficiency required for demanding operations.
Commitment to Innovation
John Deere's introduction of the JD4 and JD9 engines reflects the company's commitment to providing versatile and efficient power solutions. By expanding its Next Generation engine lineup, John Deere continues to support the evolving needs of industries worldwide, offering engines that are not only powerful but also environmentally conscious and adaptable to future fuel technologies. These engines will be available at Superior Diesel within the next couple of years!
